The Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation and The Moyer Foundation were selected as the winners of the 2007 Steve Patterson Award for Excellence in Sports Philanthropy.  The national award presentation was held during the convention of the Associated Press Sports Editors on June 23, 2007 in St. Louis.  In addition, local presentations were made to The Moyer Foundation in Philadelphia in August 2007 (read the release), and the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation in Memphis in November 2007 (read the release).

“What teams mean to their fans and the communities in which they reside should be indelibly imprinted in the DNA of their corporate philanthropy.  What we make is a living, what we give back makes and saves lives.  Personal and business leadership is defined by the ability to give back, build up and create partnerships with other like-minded pro-active community organizations.  Steve Patterson exemplified what leadership, teamwork, collaboration and selflessness can accomplish.  It is an honor to receive this award in his memory.”
--Andy Dolich, President of Business Operations, Memphis Grizzlies

"I am humbled and honored to receive this award on behalf of The Moyer Foundation, our staff, partners, volunteers and all those who have been a part of our mission.  As an athlete, you are most often measured by stats and what you do on the field, but receiving an award like this for the work you do off the field, that is most meaningful because of the impact it has in raising awareness and inspiring others to give back in their own communities. Having the opportunity to create a nationwide initiative like Camp Erin and knowing that these camps will be here - helping kids long after my baseball career is over - that is what is most important to me.”
--Jamie Moyer, Co-Founder, The Moyer Foundation
