Mission:

The mission of the Otis Smith Kids Foundation is to improve the quality of life and outlook for the future for Northeast Florida area elementary school children. We do this by providing quality programs and services in the areas of education, recreation, personal growth and development. Programs include:

After-School Program
The Otis Smith Kids Foundation After-School Program is designed to equip third, fourth and fifth grade students with the tools necessary to meet the state of Florida's minimum standards for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The Foundation partners with local elementary schools to provide hands-on tutoring and test preparation, along with additional activities that encourage positive social skills and teamwork.

Citi D.R.E.A.M. Camp
As a cornerstone program of the Otis Smith Kids Foundation, Citi D.R.E.A.M. Camp is an annual highlight for the Foundation's children. Representing the important life skills and values of Dedication, Responsibility, Education, Ambition and Motivation, Citi D.R.E.A.M. Camp provides the tools necessary for children to develop into well-rounded, productive citizens.

Trained counselors work with the children on core principle lessons including leadership, interpersonal behavior, social skills, conflict resolution and career choices. Children also participate in traditional summer camp activities such as arts and crafts, physical education, plays and scavenger hunts.

Branching Out
The Otis Smith Kids Foundation provides Jacksonville-area disadvantaged children the opportunity to attend or participate in numerous cultural, educational and entertainment events throughout the year. By providing a variety of settings that celebrate diversity, positive choice making and education, children enrolled in the Foundation witness first-hand the results of hard work and dedication. This program is named "Branching Out" as it enables students to reach outside their comfort zone and experience new adventures and ideas as they stretch their imaginations and dream of their future.

Every child enrolled in the Foundation has the opportunity to take part in these activities at no charge. Some of the activities are in the form of field trips, while others take place on campus at their local school.

Scholarships
The Otis Smith Kids Foundation works with the University of North Florida and Florida Community College at Jacksonville to provide scholarships to former Foundation students.

Grantmaking Objectives:

The Otis Smith Kids Foundation is not a grant-making foundation. Our mission is to provide children's programs and we are sustained through grants, donations and fundraising events.
