San Francisco 49ers Foundation

Mission:

The San Francisco 49ers Foundation is the non-profit community funding arm of the San Francisco 49ers. Now in its 15th year, the 49ers Foundation supports development programs for underserved youth that keep them safe, on track and in school. A significant portion of its funding goes toward family violence prevention programs and activities that teach youth leadership and respect.Through the leadership of 49ers team owners Denise and John York, the 49ers Foundation has donated more than $4 million over the last four years to non-profits throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Grantmaking Objectives:

The funding priority for the 2007 season will concentrate on supporting organizations and programs that focus on “tackling violence” and that help establish life goals; encourage positive character building choices; teach life skills; and demonstrate respect, tolerance and appreciation of diversity.49ers Foundation grants will be awarded only to 501(c)(3) organizations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area that address violence prevention.

Please be advised that the 49ers Foundation does not fund the following areas:

  • Land, building or vehicle purchase
  • Endowments
  • Political campaigns
  • Religious organizations (projects to promote religion)
  • Loans of any type
  • Personal scholarships
  • Travel
  • Drives
  • Specific individuals
  • Organizations based outside the greater San Francisco Bay Area

Grant applications are accepted on an invitation only basis.The 49ers Foundation will not fund any group or organization who in policy or practice promotes unfair discrimination.
