Clutch City Foundation (Houston Rockets)Mission:The Houston Rockets are committed to giving back to the community in which we live, and we are proud to have helped thousands of Houstonians since Leslie Alexander purchased the team in 1993. From the beginning we reached out to those less fortunate, and in 1995 established the Clutch City Foundation to expand our outreach and provide additional assistance to Houstonians in need. Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $3 million dollars, helping Houston area charities continue to deliver specialized care to the people they serve. From providing much needed funding to SEARCH when it lost a grant for its homeless job assistance program, building the Rockets Home for Casa deEsperanza AIDS organization, to most recently providing scholarships to students at Kashmere High School, the Clutch City Foundation has continued to be a source of funding for Houston area charities and schools. In addition to supporting charities through the foundation, our work in the community is focused on improving public education and providing grassroots basketball programs for youth. Through programs such as Read to Achieve, Power of Preparation, SAT Training Camp and our partnership with HISD's Kashmere Feeder Pattern, we are impacting education in Houston. And, because we believe that children who play sports have a better chance of succeeding, we provide year-round opportunities for youth to get involved in our basketball initiatives, including Rockets Skills Camps, Tundra Zones and the TMAC Basketball League, to name a few.
