Golden State Warriors Foundation

Mission:

The Golden State Warriors Foundation is committed to positively impacting the communities of Oakland and the greater San Francisco Bay Area by providing financial assistance and opportunities to other non-profit civic and community organizations that benefit and enrich the lives of children, youth and those in need. By providing financial support and unique resources, the Foundation endeavors to meet the social, educational and cultural needs of the community.

Warriors owner and CEO Christopher Cohan has been dedicated to continuing Golden State’s longstanding tradition of positive community involvement since purchasing the club in 1995. During his tenure, the Warriors have developed numerous outreach programs and have contributed more than 1.5 million dollars in financial and in-kind assistance to thousands of nonprofit organizations. In 1997, Christopher and Angela Cohan spearheaded the creation of the Warriors Foundation to further expand the organization’s outreach into the surrounding communities. Since the 2000-01 season, the Warriors Foundation has distributed over $400,000 in grants to 25 Bay Area nonprofit organizations. This season the Foundation will continue to host in-arena and on-line auctions and other charitable endeavors in support of its community initiatives and activities.

Grantmaking Objectives:

Although the Warriors Foundation will not be accepting grant applications for the 2006-07 fiscal year, we remain committed to providing assistance and in-kind support to Bay Area nonprofit organizations through the donation of tickets, autographed memorabilia, promotional items, sponsorships, and player and talent appearances.
