Cavaliers Youth Fund (Cleveland Cavaliers)

Mission:

Cavaliers Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, supports programs designed to positively impact young people in the areas of education, recreation and employment and life skills, with a particular emphasis on programs aimed towards at-risk youth. Additional consideration is given to programs that deal with specific health-related diseases.

Since its inception in 1993, Cavaliers Youth Fund has returned over $17,000,000 to worthy charities. The McCormick Tribune Foundation matches all funds raised by Cavaliers Youth Fund at a significant percentage, increasing the dollar amount of grants to worthwhile agencies.

Grantmaking Objectives:

All applicants must be qualified tax-exempt organizations. The geographic area required for consideration is Northeastern Ohio, with priority given to organizations in Cuyahoga and Summit counties. Secondary consideration is given to organizations in Lake, Stark, Portage, Media and Lorain counties.

Education

  • Programs that promote the importance of staying in school and receiving a high school diploma with particular emphasis on programs targeted at inner city youth
  • Programs that encourage parental involvement in developing self-confidence and increased performance levels in young people

Recreation

  • Programs designed to encourage at-risk youth to develop more positive lifestyles
  • Programs that promote health, fitness and teamwork and foster a positive mentoring environment

Employment and Life Skills

  • Programs designed to improve the basic social and economic well-being of the community
  • Programs that provide training and supervision to assist young people in procuring and maintaining a job
