Raptors Foundation (Toronto Raptors)

Mission:

The Raptors Foundation is the charitable arm of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club, and is dedicated to assisting Ontario’s registered charities that support programs and sports initiatives for at-risk children and youth.

We strive to lift spirits and change lives for young people by supporting local and provincial organizations that provide recreational, educational and other youth-oriented activities. Through our community ties and with the help of our corporate partners, donors, Raptors players and volunteers, we have successfully raised more than $16 million since 1995 and reached out to thousands of charities.

Grantmaking Objectives:

The Raptors Foundation provides funding to registered charities across Ontario that focus on at-risk children and youth. Requests for funding must adhere to the following criteria to be eligible for consideration:

  • The organization must be a registered charity in Ontario in good standing.
  • The specific program for which funding is requested must target at-risk children and or youth (“at-risk” may refer to social and financial background and or disabilities relating to one’s physical and or mental state).
  • The funding request is not to exceed $5,000.
  • Only one program submission is allowed per organization.

A charity can reapply for funding after two years of having received funds from the Raptors Foundation.

Areas of interest for funding by the Raptors Foundation include the following:

  • arts, culture and heritage
  • basketball development
  • education, literacy and technology
  • Native issues
  • social services and community development
  • sports and recreation

Areas outside the Raptors Foundation’s mandate and not eligible for funding include the following:

  • construction of a building
  • capital/endowment campaigns
  • individual or personal support
  • pledges and multi-year requests
  • political parties, candidates or partisan political activity
  • government bodies (for example, Board of Education)
  • religious activities
  • research
